WPC and natural wood are the two most common decking choices for villas in the UAE. Both can look good, but they behave very differently in strong sun, humidity and around pools. This guide compares them side by side.
What is WPC decking?
WPC stands for wood-plastic composite. The boards are made from wood fibre and plastic, formed into hollow or solid profiles, often with a protective outer cap. They are designed for outdoor use and do not need staining or sealing.

Heat: the question everyone asks
Any outdoor floor gets hot in a Dubai summer. Light colours stay cooler than dark ones, and shade from a pergola makes the biggest difference. Choose the colour with the exposure in mind.
What lasts longer?
A well-installed WPC deck with a sound substructure usually needs less work over its life. Wood can last well too, but only with regular finish care. In both cases, the base, the drainage and the expansion gaps decide how long the deck stays level.
